Product Development

For our New Product Development (NPD) services we begin by brainstorming in order to reach an in-depth understanding of our client’s requirements and how to achieve them. Once we’re all on the same page, the team then conducts extensive research to devise the most practical and efficient development process. 

Optimized design is essential. We keep an open dialogue with our clients – updating them every step of the way. Our engineers can optimize every aspect of product design to help you to both choose the correct process at the start of a product lifetime, and advise on component design. 

After reviewing these hand drawn design concepts  we work with our clients to extract the features that best exhibit their vision. We will produce a final deliverable 2D drawing to next step process.






Design for Manufacturability (DFM)

Design for Manufacturability (DFM) is the process of designing parts, components or products for ease of manufacturing with an end goal of making a better product at a lower cost. This is done by simplifying, optimizing and refining the product design. Early involvement in part and mold design using Design For Manufacturability (DFM) Review is key to successful part and product development. At Work Precision, we emphasize the benefits of DFM to our clients with the knowledge that this powerful diagnostic tool will create a more efficient production cycle and ultimately increase profitability.

Why is Design for Manufacturing Important?
● Products made with DFM will have a lower production cost

● Parts may be combined to reduce assembly steps and quantity of parts

Some material properties to consider during DFM include:
● Mechanical properties - How strong does the material need to be?
● Optical properties - Does the material to be reflective or transparent?
● Thermal properties - How heat resistant does it need to be?
● Color - What color does the part need to be?
● Electrical properties - Does the material need to act as a dielectric (act as an insulator rather than a conductor)?
● Flammability - How flame/burn resistant does the material need to be?
● Understanding the performance of materials, coatings and joints in-service is essential if your products and structures are to meet their operating requirements.

Mold Design

HB-MOLD, a 3D solid-based mold design application is seamlessly integrated into NX, lt incorporates preset mold design time. By using Parametric 3D CAD mold design, we are able to employ CAM(Computer Aided Manufacturing) in a near paperless environment. Our PDM(Product Data Management) system ensures that incoming and outgoing files are tracked and managed. We utilize our ECN(Engineering Change Notice) system to control and verify design revisions.




Mold Flow Analysis

Moldflow, a metal casting simulation application providing a truly seamless integration of part design, mold flow analysis, and mold design. By using Moldflow, we can simulate the casting molding process, optimize molding parameters, and identify potential tooling and molding problems in the early design stages.
